Club History
It was in 1968 that the protracted negotiations for the amalgamation of the Medway Road Club, Medway Wheelers and Rochester Velo Club Olympique came to fruition.
Bringing together three clubs whose interests lay in different aspects of cycling, road, time trialling and track was difficult, but after much discussion a successful formula was arrived at which would bring together some of the most outstanding riders of the time into one single club.
Historically, the Medway Wheelers boasted such riders as Ken Joy, Peter Beardsmore and Brian Kirby with a string of national successes, The Medway Road Club had riders of the calibre of Arthur Pursey, Peter Whitehouse and the International road star, Geoff Wiles. Rochester Velo Club Olympique contributed such names as Don Sutherland and John Hare, just a few names of the legion now brought together, backed by superlative officials such as Bill Underhill, who all commanded and earned respect in every facet of our sport.
The club has a fine array of equipment for the use of its members and promotes a range of club events to suit all interests. Your Committee has a forward-looking attitude and is always keen to welcome new ideas and assistance from you.
