Not Liege Bastogne Liege

It wasn’t The Tour of Flanders, it wasn’t Leige Bastogne Leige, but it was our own tribute to the Belgian monument “Not Leige Bastogne Leige. With a route based on today’s classic our riders faced a test with many climbs, 1,300m in total all packed into just 100km of the Kentish Ardennes. Meeting at the Sun at Bredgar a select group headed off into the hills.

The route was sinuous and with the aim of arriving back at the start between 2 and 2.30 short cuts were encouraged for those who found the route a little too much. None the less our peloton stayed quite compact with little need to wait.

Ultimately we made our way up the final incline of Dean’s Hill and on to our destination. With the sun shining we sat outside with Steven and Saffya and relaxed over a well earned pint whilst we watched the pros battle it out in Ans.
A collection for a local Motor Neurone Disease charity was raised which Fraser will deposit on the Club’s behalf.
