Donna Hopper and Roger Maddams both attempted the London to Paris ride in 24-hours.
In what Roger later described as ‘The ride from hell’ the riders had to complete 90-miles to Dover, which all did well before exiting the ferry at Calais for a mere 160-miles to Paris. As they departed the ferry the heavens opened and a strong headwind kicked in. At the last feed station Roger suffered from hypothermia and was not allowed to continue the last 30-miles of the journey by the doctor. Only 8 of the 273 made it within the 24-hours with 50% of the field being pulled from the ride.
Donna completed the 250-miles, a great effort. Top marks all round.
